The Ansley Lady Warriors escaped a close game against the upset minded North Loup-Scotia Wildcats 43-39. The Lady Warrior advance to the D2-4 district final for a match-up with Wilcox-Hildreth who was a 64-52 winner over Loomis.
In other girls subdistrict action last night, the Sandhills/Thedford Lady Knights season came to an end with a 46-31 loss to Sutherland in the D1-11 subdistrict. The season also ended for the Mullen Lady Broncos who lost to Cody-Kilgore 35-32 in the D2-11 subdistrict.
The Sargent/Burwell Horndogs had three wrestlers advance to the championship semifinals to guarantee themselves a medal. The Horndogs also sit in second place in the team standings just four points behind Wood River after the first two rounds of competition. The three wrestlers who advanced to the championship semifinals are Justin Miller (112), Jed Fenske (145) and Tanner Balfour (152).
Forty-one area wrestlers walk into the Omaha Qwest Center today for the opening rounds of the State Wrestling Tournament.
