Indian boys win St. Paul Invite

BROKEN BOW -- The Broken Bow Indians won the boys team title Friday at the St. Paul Inivte. The Indians tallied 133.5 points while St. Paul managed to score 118 points for second place.
The Indian boys had many multiple individual event medalists and also medaled in all three relays.
Winning gold teams only gold medal, Patrick Wright out-stretched teammate Cody Dierking at the finish line of the 3200 meter run. Wright crossed the line in 10:35.77 while Dierking settled for second in 10:35.78. Wright then claimed second place in the 1600 meter run.

Bobcats finish second to Bertrand

ELWOOD -- The South Loup boys track team finished in second place to team champion Bertrand.
The Bobcats 4x800 meter relay team of Haden Geiser, Dylan Chelsey, Brandon Peterson and Kyle Pierce were gold medalists in the event. Also winning gold was Logan Glendy in the 110 meter hurdles. Glendy also placed second in the 300 meter hurdles.
Pierce placed second in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs and Brady Weinman placed second in the pole vault. The boys 4x400 meter relay also placed second for the Bobcats.

Arcadia begins track season

GENOA -- The Arcadia Husky track team finally got on the track participating in the Cedar Valley Invite in Genoa last Tuesday.
Hollie O’Brien led the Lady Huskies with their only gold medal winning the discus throw. All three girls relay teams placed as well as three girls in the individual distance events.
On the boys side, Matthew Quick placed fourth in discus and Luke Schmauder placed fourth in the 400 meter dash.

Lady Warriors run past Burwell for team title

KEARNEY -- The Ansley Lady Warriors claimed five first place medals and three seconds to edge Burwell by five points for the girls team title at the Dick O’Neill Track Invitational in Kearney Friday. The annual meet is hosted by Pleasanton and is held at Kearney High School.

Indians, Bobcats, Broncos, Knights, Mustangs swing for the greens

BROKEN BOW -- The Broken Bow Indian golf team put in 18 holes of work this past week. The Indians traveled to Holdrege last week and finished in second place at the Holdrege Triangular with Cozad.
Broken Bow’s Tanner Johnson shot the low round with a 41 which was one stroke better than Holdrege’s Caleb Ostgren. Nate Hanson shot a 47 for the second best 9-hole score among the Indian golfers.
This past Tuesday, the Indians hosted Gothenburg at the Broken Bow Country Club.

Bulldogs sweep Mullen Invite team titles

ARNOLD -- The Sargent Bulldog boys and girls track teams each won gold in 10 events to sweep the team titles at the Mullen Invite in Arnold. The Lady Bulldogs edged the Mullen Lady Broncos by two points, 111-109, while the Bulldog boys cruised to a 43 point win over second place Mullen.

Four area hoopsters voted to All-State teams

Four area basketball players have been selected to All-State teams released by two of Nebraska’s largest newspaper publications.
Three area players landed on the Omaha World Herald’s list of All-Staters. Mullen senior Gabe Connealy, who averaged 18.1 points per game, was chosen to the Class D2 first team. Ansley junior Siera Rohde, who averaged 11.6 points per game, was chosen to the Class D2 girls second team. Selected to the boys All-State second team in Class D1 was Sandhills/Thedford senior Kale Anderson, who averaged 22.6 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.

A full day is in store Saturday with the finals of the following events scheduled for competition....
