CHADRON--It was a long four-hour drive to Chadron last Friday for the Broken Bow football team. The Indians made sure the bus ride back would be fun after toppling Chadron 29-14 and in the process keeping their playoffs hopes alive.
Broken Bow opened the scoring when sophomore quarterback Marcus Miller connected with Nate Hanson for a 20-yard touchdown pass. The extra point was missed and Broken Bow led early 6-0.
Chadron would respond when Coby Riesen scored on a five-yard run. The Cardinals added the extra-point and led 7-6 after the first quarter.

RAVENNA--The Broken Bow cross country team participated at the rainy and muddy Ravenna Invite last week.
The boy’s squad ran away with the team title and six runners finished in the top 20 and three in the top 10.
Cody Dierking was the runner-up with a time of 17:14, Patrick Wright placed third with a time of 17:51.1, Andrew Pracht placed fourth with a time of 18:10.8.
Evan Rose came in at 13th with a time of 19:24.7, Andrew Bailey finished 17th with a time of 19:40.6 and Grant Phillips finished 20th with a time of 19:52.7.

MULLEN--Sandhills/Thedford used big plays and two long runs in the second quarter by running back Dillion Simonson to shock Mullen 28-22.

BROKEN BOW--The Broken Bow football team was looking for redemption after dropping their first game of the season and did just that. After blocking Ord’s extra-point during the first possession of overtime Broken Bow running back Justin McCullough found the end zone and Tanner Johnson kicked an extra point and the Indians escaped with a 21-20 win over rival Ord.
The Indian defensive motto was "bend but don't break" last Friday night.
