Hey guys, just in case you didn’t catch Ellen’s article on the front page, I’m going to take this opportunity to further introduce myself.
I recently took over as the sports editor for the Chief and I’ll tell you I’m thrilled to be here.
Unlike Dennis Driscoll, the former sports editor, I didn’t go to high school here. All of your faces and names are going to be new to me.
I’m originally from Omaha. I grew up there and graduated from Millard North High School. Needless to say this small town is a definite switch for me, but I find it starting to grow on me already.

As some people already know, I accepted a position at the Kearney Hub and the girls state basketball tournament is going to be my final official work for the Chief. So, I guess it's customary to write a good-bye, so long and farewell column.
When I graduated from college I can honestly say returning to Broken Bow wasn't even in my vocabulary, but, I can tell you I'm happy I came back, even if it was just for eight months.

Paxton 50
Sandhills/Thedford 46
NORTH PLATTE - - Paxton was able to survive a late Sandhills/Thedford rally and defeat the Knights, earning a trip to the state tournament.
Sandhills/Thedford led for one minute the entire game.
After Cole Taylor and Matthew McLeod scored two early baskets and a free throw and led 5-4, Paxton would seize the lead and the Knights were forced to play from behind the rest of the game.
The Tigers were able to run out to a 16-9 first quarter lead, and that was mainly due to Paxton's full-court defense that caused six first quarter turnovers.
