Put Me In Coach: Get used to the awful officiating; It's not changing anytime soon

Remember when you were little and you went to all these birthday parties for your friends?

There was always that one kid that was so entertaining because he or she did stupid stuff simply because he didn't know any better. As many of you know, after awhile, the jokes just weren't funny anymore.

This fall, that so called kid is the entire body of the replacement NFL officials.

Broken Bow suffers first loss at hands of Cozad, looks ahead to Valentine

After winning the first two games of the season, Broken Bow was put back on their heels in a big way, losing 49-7 to Cozad Sept. 14.
With Broken Bow being a run heavy offense, they got a taste of their own medicine as Cozad running back Jake Paulsen had a big day on the ground, rushing 25 times for 209 yards and scored four touchdowns.
His longest was a 41-yard dash to the end zone that gave the Haymakers their first touchdown of the second half.

Twin Loup volleyball hands Ansley-Litchfield first defeat

All streaks must end sometime. After starting the season 10-0, Ansley-Litchfield suffered their first loss of the season Tuesday night at the hands of Twin Loup.
This was the third time these two teams had met this season and it went to a third and deciding set once again.
The Wolves pulled out the 3-2 victory, 25-23, 25-22, 25-20 at the North Loup Scotia-Elba Triangular.
Twin Loup also topped ENLS 2-1, winning 20-25, 27-25, 25-12.
Alex Hart came alive for Twin Loup in this match, recording 20 kills along with 12 by Becca Clark and seven from Madison Kozeal.

Brady tops Lady Mustang volleyball

Brady topped the Lady Mustangs on the court tonight. Coach Cody Whipley thought tonight was their best game of the season, but Brady, a perennial strong contender took home the victory.

The scores read 16-25, 19-25, 25-19 and 17-25

Brady too much for SEM football

The Eagles of Brady proved to be too much for the Mustangs tonight, beating SEM 56-12 on a night where Brady seemed to be in a different class.

Brady used their speed an quickness to get past SEM defenders, who lack speed on the edges.

Volleyball: Spalding Academy gets the best of Anselmo-Merna.

Spalding Academy defeated the Coyotes of Anselmo-Merna last night in straight sets. The scores read 25-19, 25-13 and 25-17. With the loss, Anselmo-Merna's record dropped to 1-6 on the season. Janae Hostick was 10/10 on serves with one ace. Megan Max was 39/39 on sets with seven assists. Katie Kirkpatrick finished with five ace blocks while Hostick had seven kills and 10 digs.

South Loup tops SEM in five sets

South Loup faced a 2-1 deficit at one point, but used the home court energy to bounce back and win 3-2.

The scores read 18-25, 26-24, 19-25, 25-17 and 15-4. Specific stats and further coverage will be updated to this story within the next day or two.

Knights Volleyball tops Hyannis, SMC in triangular

Sandhills/Thedford picked up two more volleyball wins on Sept.11, beating Hyannis and Stapleton-McPherson County in the SMC triangular.

They started off by beating SMC 25-17 and 25-13. Madison Taylor lead the way with eight kills while Kelsey Higgins chipped in five along with Avery Taylor's five. Taylor Marten finished with three kills while Kaitlin Marten had two.

Kaitlin Marten did a solid job of setting up her teammates with 18 assists.
