Spartans capture second straight Seven Valleys Title

Pat Hobyln and company have done it again. Ansley-Litchfield defeated Brady 2-1 Saturday to capture the Seven Valleys Tournament Title for the second straight season. The Spartans also knocked off Mullen and Twin Loup on their way to the title. For full coverage, check out the next edition of the Custer County Chief.

Broken Bow edged by Gothenburg in Home opener

Broken Bow's home opener didn't go as planned Friday night as a Gothenburg's Trenton Long made a 37-yard field goal with 8:13 left in the 4th quarter lifted the Swedes to a 3-0 victory over the Indians.

The victory from Gothenburg brought both team's record to 1-1 on the season.

Broken Bow had a chance with under three minutes left in the game and the ball on their half of the field when quarterback Marcus Miller hit Austin Reynolds on a slant route over the middle. Reynolds took a hard hit and the ball came free.

Broken Bow Volleyball pulls upset against North Platte St. Patricks, beats Cozad

September 12, 2013

Broken Bow improved to 3-3 with an upset win over the host North Platte St. Patrick's and a win over Cozad Thursday night.

Against North Platte St. Pat's, Julia Loy and Lexie Berghorst each recorded nine kills to power the Indians offensively. Ashley Kirkpatrick finished with three kills to go with two from Krisha Scott and Rachel Gaston.

Loy also had a solid game on defense, recording nine blocks to go with four from Berghorst and three from Scott.

Gaston and Sydney Holcomb lead the way with 13 and 10 digs while Morgan Hueftle and Krisha Scott combined for 15 assists.
