Florida Atlantic-Nebraska preview capsule
Florida Atlantic at No. 22 Nebraska, 3:30 p.m. (BTN)
Line: Nebraska by 23 1/2.
Series Record: Nebraska leads 1-0.
WHAT'S AT STAKE
Four of the eight neutral-site games the first week of the college football season involve Big Ten teams.
Though not all the sites are truly neutral, all the games will generate the exposure every coach craves for recruiting. Like bowl games, the openers also will produce lifelong memories for the players and varying financial rewards for the schools.
GAME OF THE WEEK: No. 14 Wisconsin vs. No. 13 LSU, Saturday, at Houston. Despite losing 13 starters from last year's 9-4 team, including eight on defense, the Badgers are a popular pick to win the Big Ten West. What better way to measure themselves than by playing one of the SEC's most consistent winners? Wisconsin coach Gary Andersen hadn't named a starting quarterback as of mid-week, though all indications pointed to converted safety-wide receiver Tanner McEvoy. LSU has won an FBS-record 45 straight regular-season non-conference games since 2002.
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska has lost possibly three players for the season to injuries and a bunch of others are ailing, but you won't hear coach Bo Pelini complaining.
"There's no magical thing to injuries. It's a tough sport. Things happen, and there's nothing you can do about it," Pelini said after Wednesday's practice. "Look across the country, we're not the only ones that have some guys hurt."
Nickel back Charles Jackson and linebacker Michael Rose are out with season-ending knee injuries and running back Adam Taylor broke his ankle and probably won't make it back this season.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Big Ten volleyball coaches pick Nebraska to finish second in the conference behind two-time defending champion Penn State.
Wisconsin is third in the poll released Thursday, followed by Illinois, Purdue, Michigan State and Minnesota. Michigan is picked eighth, followed by Ohio State, Northwestern, Iowa, Indiana, Maryland and Rutgers.
Nebraska senior Mary Pollmiller and sophomore Kadie Rolfzen are on the 15-member preseason All-Big Ten team, with Rolfzen a unanimous selection.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska defensive end Randy Gregory wants to be known for being more than just a pass rusher.
After leading the Big Ten with 10 1/2 sacks last season, he says he needs to become better as a run-stopper.
Gregory's difficulty holding his ground against the run stemmed from his struggle to maintain weight. He dropped as low as 230 pounds last season. Last week, the 6-foot-6 Gregory was up to 248.
