Mullen beats South Loup 3-0

Twin Loup beats Anselmo-Merna 3-0.

First game Saturday is Ansley-Litchfield (round one bye) vs. Arcadia/Loup City at Noon.

Will the real Bo Pelini please stand up?
I’ve been waiting to write this column since the season started and now I have enough ammo to back it up.
If the Ohio State game on Saturday didn’t do enough to wake up the general population of Nebraska fans, I don’t know what will.
It proved something that most of you may recognize but don't want to admit it or face the fact.
The fact that Bo Pelini just isn’t that great at coaching defense.

Football: Broken Bow outlasts Ord on homecoming night

October 5, 2012

Broken Bow put in a strong defensive effort, resulting in a 10-7 victory over Ord to cap their homecoming night. The game ended when Hunter Campbell came up with an interception in the end zone on a 4th and 25. Campbell also scored Broken Bow's only touchdown and had a fumble recovery. Volleyball: Broken Bow falls to Ogallala, Minden at home triangular

Broken Bow fell to 8-12 on the season after dropping matches to Ogallala and Minden Oct. 4. Minden took the victory 25-19, 25-15 and Ogallala took the first game 25-19 and the second game 25-12. For more details. check out the next edition of the Custer County Chief.

Football: Anselmo-Merna falls to Bertrand

The Coyotes four- game win streak was snapped this afternoon as the Vikings from Bertrand walked away with the 49-22 victory over Anselmo-Merna. For more details, check out the October 11 edition of the Custer County Chief.

Football: Palmer too much for Ansley-Litchfield

Palmer moved to 6-1 on the season as Ansley-Litchfield moved to 2-4 on the season after suffering a homecoming loss to the Tigers. For more details, check out the October 11 issue of the Custer County Chief.

Football: Broken Bow bounces back against St. Paul

There’s nothing like getting ready for their homecoming game with a win the week before.
Coming off two lopsided losses and with their homecoming battle against Ord on the horizon, Broken Bow went to St. Paul Sept. 28 and came back with a 33-8 victory.
“We were able to control the line on both sides of the ball and wear St.Paul down,” coach Mike Garner said.
The two teams played a scoreless first quarter before Broken Bow opened the scoring in the second.
Running back Nate Evans scored from one yard out and teammates Zac Jones found the end zone from nine yard s away.

Volleyball: Ansley-Litchfield picks up two more wins

Ansley-Litchfield kept their strong season going with two more wins- one over South Loup Sept. 28 and one over Amherst Tuesday night.
Against Amherst, the Spartans took the win in straight sets (25-12, 25-14, 25-11).
Taylor Pickar was 10-10 on kill attempts with seven aces while Lindsy Siegel chipped in eight aces on a 12-13 killing attempt.
Falicia Shepardson had a productive day as well, securing four kill aces on an 8-11 performance.
Kaitlin Kratzer and Kayla Reynolds were on top of their setting game, totaling six and four assists respectively.
