The Broken Bow wrestling team returned to the mats after a two week holiday break as they hosted Southwest Conference foe, the Ogallala Indians. The night of dual action was also parents’ night for the Broken Bow Indians.

ARCADIA -- The SandhillsThedford girls and boys basketball teams swept the Arcadia Holiday Tournament last week. The Sandhills/Thedford Lady Knights defeated the Arcadia Lady Huskies 43-27 for the girls championship while the Sandhills/Thedford Knights defeated the Litchfield Trojans 65-37 for the boys championship.

GRAND ISLAND -- The Broken Bow girls and boys basketball teams found a new venue for this season’s holiday tournament and the new site was not very giving to the Indians. The Northwest Holiday Tournament field included three class B teams, Northwest, Beatrice and Sidney along with class C1 Broken Bow. The Indian girls and boys teams lost to the host Northwest Vikings in the first round then both lost to Sidney in the consolation round last Wednesday.

BRADY -- The Anselmo-Merna Lady Coyotes captured third place by defeating Paxton 42-28 in the consolation game of the Brady Holiday Tournament. The Lady Coyotes held Paxton to two points in the second quarter and claimed a 23-8 halftime lead. In the second half, both teams played even trading baskets throughout the final two quarters.

LITCHFIELD -- The Litchfield Trojans improved to 5-0 on the season with wins over Loup County and Sandhills/Thedford last week. Last Tuesday, the Trojans easily defeated Loup County 71-32 as they held the Wildcats to only seven points in each of the first three quarters. The Trojans scored 27 points in the second quarter leading to a 43-14 halftime lead.
Adam Kucera led the Trojans with 25 points followed by Tyson Howard with 15, Sam Reynolds 9, Kaleb Sekutera 6, Michael Heapy 4, Nat Schrock 4, Danny Woolery 2, Austin Kramer 2, Tyler Snow 2 and Ricky Magner 2.

AINSWORTH -- The Broken Bow Lady Indians will enter the holiday season riding a two game winning streak under interim coach Brynn Jobman. Coach Jobman takes over a the Lady Indians after four straight losses to start the season. The Lady Indians have also stepped up offensively as they scored an average of 50 points in the two wins. During the first for games the Lady Indians averaged 29.5 points per contest. Their defense has also turned it around. After giving up an average of 58 points in their first four games, the Lady Indians have given up 38 points in each of their last two games.
