When I attended the IMCA Stockcar races this past weekend (see C1), I was informed of a very odd rule that, to my knowledge, doesn’t exist in any other racing league.
In the rule book, there is a rule called the claim rule. For example, since Brady Weinman took home the victory, say the guy who finished last didn’t like Weinman and decided he wanted to claim his engine.
Life is better in the fast lane.
Especially when you finish 1st.
That’s exactly what Brady Weinman of Arnold managed to do July 6 at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds in North Platte.
Weinman races in the International Motor Contest Association (IMCA) Stock Car Hobby Division on a weekly basis.
The point system is broken down by tracks. Different racers can be ranked different in points standings at different tracks.
At Lincoln County fairgrounds, Weinman sits in 5th place with 176 points and is 5th in McCook as well with 103 points.
AURORA -- The Broken Bow senior baseball team saw its regular season come to an end Tuesday night with a 13-2 loss to Aurora.
Broken Bow actually outhit Aurora 9-8, but couldn’t put anything together as they came up with just two runs.
Seth Quackenbush and Caleb Dodge recorded the two RBIs for Bow as they went 2-3 and 3-3 respectively with all of the five hits between them being singles.
Hunter Campbell had a solid day at the plate, going 2-3 with a single and a doule and scoring two runs.
The Indians also got singles from Chad Christensen and Jake McCormick.

The Rodeo Museum in Berwyn, which is set for a grand opening sometime this fall, has added a few more pieces to its vast collection of rodeo history and memrobilia.
In September of 2012, Blaine Partridge, the owner of the museum, recieved a saddle from Paul Tierney, one of Broken Bow’s National Finals Rodeo contestants since its inception in 1959.
The museum will now also feature a hat from Lin Hilton, who was the NFR announcer in 1972 and served as the county extension agent in Burwell in the 1960s, where he also announced at junior rodeos across the state.
