Cecil Dale Smith, 91, of Grand Island, died Nov. 14, 2014 at Bickford Cottage.
A celebration of Daleâs life will be Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, at the Presbyterian Church in Fullerton at 10 a.m., with interment following at the Fullerton Cemetery. A luncheon will be served afterward at the church.
Apfel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lloyd L. Ginkens, Jr., 89, of Mullen, passed away July 23, 2015, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.
Lloyd âGinksâ was born Oct. 30, 1925, in Mullen to Lloyd and Sara (French) Ginkens. In the early years he attended a country school with Austin Ginkens and the John Barneby kids. In 1935 the family went broke and traveled to the West Coast. They didnât have much luck with jobs so they returned to Nebraska and moved in with Grandpa and Grandma French. In the summer of 1938 the family rented a place north of Mullen on the Middle Loup River from McCully and Bramer.
Leonard L. Peterson, age 84 of Ansley, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at the Jennie Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Service were Saturday, July 25, 2015, at the First Baptist Church in Ansley with the Rev. Scott Harvey officiating. Burial was in the Ansley Cemetery with Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Ansley Cemetery to be used for any future repairs or maintenance of the Veterans Memorial and/or to the Mason City Community Hall.
David left his earthly body while kayaking in the Yellowstone River of Montana July 19. He died how he lived, without fear.
David was born May 11, 1979, in Broken Bow. This was his childhood home, and graduated high school in 1998. He moved to Lincoln and for the past 12 years, worked as a climber on cellular towers, a job which has taken him all over the country.
From 2000 to 2003 David lived in Orange County, Calif. He had many adventures along the seaside, surfing and hiking in the forests.
Hazel Beverly (Bev) Thompson died Monday, July 6, 2015, at Corvallis Manor in Corvallis, Ore. The eldest of three children, she was born Aug. 23, 1920, to James C. Huffaker and Leta Roxie (Horn) Huffaker on their homestead in Wild Horse, Colo. The family moved back to the Huffaker family homestead in Broken Bow, where she grew up with her brothers, Dillard A. Huffaker and Robert James Huffaker, both deceased.
O'NEILL, Neb. (AP) â A judge has scheduled an October trial on a Holt County lawsuit aimed at keeping TransCanada Corp. from seizing land to build the Keystone XL oil pipeline.
At a hearing on Monday in O'Neill, District Judge Mark Kozisek set the nonjury trial date of Oct. 19.
Seven Nebraska landowners filed lawsuits after the state Supreme Court tossed an earlier, similar lawsuit, with three justices saying the plaintiffs in the case didn't have standing to sue because they didn't prove TransCanada was seeking their land.
