Wynonna LaVonne Myers Smith, 94, of Callaway, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012, the Callaway Good Samaritan Center in Callaway.
She was born in Callaway, May 26, 1918, the daughter of Troy and Ruth Maze Myers. She was married for 69 years to her best friend and the love of her life, Foster Smith, who preceded her in death.
LaVonne graduated from Callaway High School and as a young adult was employed at the Callaway Grocery and Market. After marriage to Foster, she spent many years as a homemaker, wonderful mother, gardener, cook, quilter, and seamstress.
Gladys Wolf, age 101 of Broken Bow, died Sunday, June 17, 2012, at her home in Broken Bow.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow with the Rev. Todd Karges officiating. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery with Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow in charge of the arrangements. Memorials have been established to the Broken Bow United Methodist Church or the Broken Bow Rebekah Lodge.
Jean C. Minnick age 83 of Cambridge, died Sunday, June 17, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Jean was born in St. Paul. She graduated from St. Paul High School in 1946.
She attended and graduated from the University of Nebraska with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism. Jean was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority.
June 16, 1948, Jean was united in marriage to Paul Minnick. He preceded her in death Nov. 16, 2006. Jean worked for the Cambridge Hospital and later as secretary at the Cambridge Public Schools for more than 10 years.
Margie Iva (Yohn) Kvasnicka, 85, of Wilber, passed away June 12, 2012. She was born Oct. 21, 1926, in Mason City, to William and Christina (Albrecht) Yohn
Margie attended Mason City School. She married Edwin Price, and to this union four children were born.
While working at Russell Stovers, she attended Lincoln School of Commerce then started working at the Nebraska Bookstore.
Geoff and Desirei Cook, of Broken Bow, proudly introduce their son, Krayten Wayne Cook. He was born April 8, 2012, at Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow, weighing 8.5 pounds and measuring 20 inches long.
Proud grandparents are Troy and Renae Mack of Broken Bow, and Gary and Joanna Cook of Berwyn. Great-grandparents are Willy and Sally Zimmerman of New Leipzig, ND, Andy and Rosy Mack of Mott, ND, and Helen Seevers of Broken Bow.
Tyson and Darlita Jelinek of Chanute, Kan., proudly announce the birth of a daughter, Brynna Claire Jelinek. She was born March 30, 2012, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute, Kan., weighing 8 pounds 3 ounces, and measuring 21 inches in length.
Welcoming Brynna home are two sisters, Mariah, 5, and Kinsey, 3.

Monte and Alicia Hermsmeyer of Ansley, introduce their new baby girl, McKinley Kay Hermsmeyer. She was born May 12, 2012, at Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow, weighing 7 pounds 15 ounces and measuring 21 1/2 inches long.
Proud grandparents are Brian and Carrie Barber of Phillips, and Duane and Christie Hermsmeyer of Scotia. Great-grandparents are Lucille Hermsmeyer of Greeley, Leona Sharma of Palmer, and Gerald and Bertina Anderson of Aurora.
Robert and Keri Schneringer of Callaway, and John and Mary Beshaler of Arnold, proudly announce the engagement of their children, Kellsey Schneringer and Evan Beshaler.
The bride-to-be is a graduate of Callaway High School, and the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Nursing division of Scottsbluff. She is currently employed at the Callaway District Hospital as a nurse.
The prospective groom is a graduate of Arnold High School and Northeast Community College in Norfolk. He works on the family farm.
The couple plans to be married Sept. 8, 2012.
Amy Rosentreader and Nick Jacobson were married April 28, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church in Broken Bow followed by dinner and dancing at the Municipal Building.
Parents of the bride are Barry and Tracy Rosentreader of Mason City. She is the granddaughter of Orval Rosentreader of Broken Bow.
The groom is the son of Dan and Linda Jacobson of Broken Bow, and the grandson of Helen Jacobson of Valley Springs, SD.
The wedding was officiated by Kathy Salts and Mary Jane Gockley.
CALLAWAY - - The activity calendar heats up this weekend, as two Custer County towns will host annual community celebrations - Callaway and Anselmo.
The Callaway Pioneer Picnic will be June 22-24, and includes lots of games and fun activities in Morgan Park Saturday and Sunday. The Seven Valleys Rodeo Association will host its annual rodeo at the arena south of Callaway beginning at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Sunday. There will also be a teen dance Friday after the rodeo.
