Floyd Lehmann, age 57, of Dunning, died March 28, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Funeral services were March 31, 2012, at the Open Bible Church in Dunning, with the Rev. Ralph McKay officiating. Burial was in the Dunning Cemetery, with Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family.
Harold L. Englert, 84, of North Platte, passed away March 27, 2012. He was born Dec. 3, 1927, to Lewis and Emma (Heins) Englert at Lodgepole.
He grew up in Dunning, before entering the service at age 18. He served as a member of the U.S. Army in WWII from 1946 to 1948. He was recalled to serve in the Korean Conflict from October 1950 to 1951, spending his time in Korea and Japan. He received a WWII Victory Medal and Army Occupation Medal in Japan.
Carl D. Eacker, 80, of Penrose, Colo., died Monday, March 5, 2012. He was born Sept. 6, 1931, in Merna.
Carl served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He worked at the Climax Molybdenum mine in Leadville, Colo., for 17 years. He was always fixing cars and loved doing it throughout his life.
He taught the mechanic trade to his children, their children, and his great-grandchildren.
Carl enjoyed hunting, camping and most of all, spending time with his large family.
Construction is expected to begin soon on a new turn lane on West Highway 2, and new speed limit signs should soon be posted. The changes come as the result of a community-driven effort in Broken Bow to improve the safety of travelers entering the community from the west.
According to Gary Thayer, district engineer for District 6 out of North Platte, a common left turn lane will be added on the west side of Broken Bow along Highway 2, creating a three-line highway all the way to the new corporate limits.

LINCOLN--This week, state senators filibustered a bill relating to voting and sent the governor the budget. Here are some of the highlights of the lawmakersâ€™ actions:
Budget: The legislature sent the budget to the governor March 27. The budget, made up of four different bills, would provide $17 million for child welfare shortfalls, about $80 million for higher education construction projects and $10 million for special education funding for schools, among other provisions. The governor has five calendar days, not including Sunday, to sign, line-item veto or veto the budget.
Haze continued over Broken Bow on Sunday following Saturdayâ€™s series of prescribed burns in the vicinity of the community.
Prescribed or controlled burning is a tool used by landowners to improve their grasslands. According to the USDA, prescribed burning is accomplished through a combination of head fires, firebreaks, fireguards, flank fires and back fires. A good control burn is well-planned. Natural barriers, such as streams, roads, etc. are used whenever possible.
NMPP Energy awarded the city of Broken Bow with a Project of the Year Award in the 1,501-5,000 population category for its LED city light conversion project at its 37th Annual Meeting and Conference in Hastings, March 28.
The award is presented annually to honor a project or program by an NMPP Energy member community that creates a more cohesive community, whether it is a project created for the entire community or one that makes it easier for city staff and employees to serve their customers.
Nelda "Babe" (Keller) Terry, age 68, of Riverside, Calif,, died Friday, March 9, 2012. She was born Jan. 1, 1944, in Broken Bow, Willard and Myra (Patterson) Keller.
Georgetta Lynn â€śJoâ€ť Kelly, 38, of Cozad, died Monday, March 19, 2012, at the Cozad Community Hospital in Cozad.
Jo was born Nov. 2, 1973, in Beatrice, to David and Susan (Wolfe) Andersen. She obtained her GED in 2009.
Oct. 20, 1992, she was united in marriage to Ryan D. Kelly at the United Methodist Church in Eddyville. They made their home in and around the Lexington area. To this union three children were born; Justine, Austin and Briana Jo.
