Kids from Family Fun Center, and a couple of local day care centers in Broken Bow, got a special treat Friday morning when some reindeer made a pit stop in downtown Broken Bow.
The reindeer, being transported by Phillip Licking of Seneca, were on their way to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Lincoln for a special visit. Their stop in Broken Bow was arranged by Licking's cousin, Dr. Angela Pruden, of Broken Bow.

The Broken Bow Runza Restaurant and Franchisees Kevin and Joyce Richardson have been honored with the 2011 Community Marketing Achievement Award from Runza National.
The award recognizes a store and staff dedicated to making a positive impact in their community. Runza National will make a donation in the store's name to a localnon-profit organization.
After eight months of countless meetings and deliberations, members of the Farmers Cooperative Grain Company in Merna, Nebraska voted to merge with Cooperative Producers, Inc. of Hastings, Nebraska.
The business operations of the two cooperatives will be combined as of Jan. 1, 2012. The board of directors of both cooperatives, unanimously agreeing on the merger, believed both patrons and equity holders alike will benefit from the larger, stronger consolidated cooperative.
An open house is planned for Alfred and Frieda (Cherry) Bauer of Pleasanton in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married Dec. 22, 1961, at the Assembly of God Church in Kearney. The open house will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, at the Pleasanton Community Building.

Alice Dow and Roger Olson, both of North Platte, were united in marriage June 26, 2011, at the Berean Church in North Platte. Pastor Bob Teters officiated the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mary Dow of North Platte. The groom is the son of Jean Olson of Broken Bow.
Terri Weaver served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Linsey Weaver, Megan Dow and Mary Vogt. Abby Vogt was flower girl. The bride was given in marriage by Mark Dow.
Serving the groom as best man was Robert Vogt. Groomsmen were Marvin Olson, leland Olson and Charlie Olson. Ring bearer was Luke Olson.
Eleanor Irene Martin, age 90 of Omaha., passed away Nov. 28, 2011. She was born Sept. 1, 1921.
She is survived by one son, Paul J. Martin and wife Gayle; grandson, Brett Martin and wife Sonya of San Diego, Calif.; great-grandchild, Max; other family and many friends.
Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, at Braman Mortuary in Omaha. Interment will be Saturday, Dec. 3, at 12 pm at the Ansley Cemetery in Ansley. You may visit www.bramanmortuary.com to leave a condolence.

Edwin Payne, Sr., 71, of Purdum, passed away Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, at the Golden Living Center in Broken Bow.
Edwin was born Jan. 1, 1940, to Gerald and Julia Payne in Spalding. The family lived in Erickson, where Edwin and his brothers completed high school.
Edwin was united in marriage to Areline Edelman May 22, 1960. Their marriage blessed them with three sons; Larry, James, and Edwin Jr.
Ione Davolt, age 94 of Broken Bow, formerly of Merna, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow.
Funeral services were Monday, Nov. 28, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Merna, with the Rev. Dale Coates officiating. Burial was in the Merna Cemetery with Govier Brothers Mortuary in charge of the arrangements. Memorials have been established to the Merna Methodist Church or the donor's choice.
Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, many family, friends, and neighbors lost one of the dearest personâ€™s in our lives, Mr. Richard (Dick) Milligan of Albany, Ore., to a vehicle accident.
Mr. Milligan was born at home during a snow storm Feb. 21, 1920, a half mile from the town of Anselmo. In his words, â€śA new generation began with me, being the oldest of five children. Our parents were Mr. George F. Milligan and his wife, Grace June (Cleveland) Milligan.â€ť
Howard "Sonny" Turner, age 81 of Arnold, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Care Home in Callaway.
Graveside services were Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at the Custer Center Cemetery west of Broken Bow with the Rev. Don Schauda officiating. Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow was in charge of arrangements.
Howard C. "Sonny" Turner was born June 30, 1930, at Milburn, to Howard L. and Mary J. (Gilligan) Turner. He attended school at Milburn and Anselmo.
