Chili cook-off Saturday

March 7, 2014

Sylvester's 9th Annual Chili Cook-Off & Benefit Auction will be Saturday, March 8. The proceeds from this year’s benefit will go to the Caring Community Closet. Enter a crock-pot full of your favorite chili by 5 p.m. Friday, March 7, along with an entry fee of $5. Cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. Judging will start at 5 p.m. Saturday, with the winners to be announced at 6 p.m. The auction is set to begin at 7 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to come out, try the chili, bid on some items and help support this worthy cause.

Special presentation Friday in Bow

March 6, 2014

The Custer County Attorney's Office is sponsoring a presentation by The Alexis Project Friday, March 7, at 11 a.m. The presentation will be held at the Broken Bow Municipal Auditorium, and will last about an hour.

Todd and Jaimi Calfee, the presenters, lost their daughter, Alexis, and her boyfriend in a drunk driving accident in September 2011. Alexis and Chris were students at Wayne State College. The presentation focuses on the dangers of drunk driving and how one bad decision can affect lives.

This event is free and open to the public.
