Jessica Blackburn and Andrew Swanson were united in marriage June 19, 2010, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Broken Bow. Pastor Roger Quandt officiated the evening service. Music was provided by Eva Quandt.
Bridesmaids were Sheena Lewandowski of North Platte, friend of the bride; Jessica Tryon of Marysville, Kan., cousin of the bride; and Sarah Keefe of Broken Bow, friend of the bride.
Groomsmen were Travis Swanson of Killeen, Texas, brother of the groom; Marcus Blackburn of Broken Bow, brother of the bride; and Jay Holmes Jr. of Kearney, friend of the groom.

Keely Jo Rapp

Jeff and Heather (Sonnichsen) Rapp of Lincoln would like to announce the birth of their daughter Keely Jo Rapp. Keely was born Sept. 26, 2010. She weighed 9 pounds 2 ounces and was 20 3/4 inches long.
Her grandparents are Rod and Deb Sonnichsen of Broken Bow, and Kevin and Jeanne Rapp of Ansley. Great-grandparents are Johnny and Loris Wright of Broken Bow, Jean Bargman of Bloomfield, and Phyllis Sonnichsen of Creighton. Keely also has a great-great grandma, Opal Whitney of Bloomfield.

Christina Upton and Stephen Jensen, both of Ashland, were united in marriage Oct. 9, 2010, at the Slattery Vintage Estates at Nehawka, Nebr., with Drew Birnie officiating.
Parents of the bride are Randy and Christy Upton of Sidney, Iowa, and Cindy and Curt Hanson of Louisville.
Parents of the groom are John and Judy Jensen of Gothenburg, and Barb Jensen of Broken Bow.
Bridesmaids were Rachel Tietgen, Brianne Crosswhite, Nicole Hanson and Larissa Schaefer. Flower girl was Addison Upton, niece of the bride.

Dell and Kristine Moninger of Broken Bow would like to announce the birth of their daughter Keeley Ann. She was born October 23rd weighing 7 lbs 7 1/2 oz, 19 1/2" long and was welcomed home by big brother Caleb. Grandparents are Rick and Teri Buhlmann of Broken Bow, Lee and Sherry Hueftle of Eustis, John Moninger of North Loup . Great Grandparents are Gladys and Irv Spangler of Callaway, Everett and Arlene Moninger of Merna, Leona Buhlmann of Albion, LaRaye and Charlene Schurr of Eustis, Karl and Janice Hueftle of Cozad.

Ansley cook gives specialty items as family gifts

ANSLEY -- While growing up, Lorraine Scott focused on helping with chores, as cooking didn’t hold much appeal. She was a self-professed tomboy, who’d rather be outside, helping her dad and brother, than in the kitchen.
“I didn’t really like to cook much, but I finally learned to enjoy it,” said Lorraine. She then recounted she had to teach herself how to prepare meals and that if something didn’t work out, it was simply thrown out.

Ryan and Gina (Caudle) Geppert would like to announce the arrival of their son, Grant Oliver.
Grant was born Oct. 16, 2010, at 2:07 a.m. at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. He weighed 6 pounds 8 ounces and was 20 inches long.
He is welcomed by granadparents Larry and Teresa Caudle and Cliff and Vickie Burnett, all of Merna, and Gary and Lillian Geppert of Sioux Falls. He is also welcomed by great-grandmothers Janet hanson of Norfolk and Sylvia Geppert of Kimball, S.D.

Jill Hutson and Andrew Bundy wish to announce plans for their wedding in December on the beach in Galveston, Texas.
The bride-to-be is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a bachelor’s degree in biology. She is currently attending medical school at the University of Oklahoma in Tulsa to become a physician’s assistant.
The groom is a 2010 graduate of Southeast Community College in Lincoln, where he obtained a degree in Fire Protection Technology.
The couple will be living in Tulsa, Okla.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Evelyn Bunde of Hastings. Jennifer graduated from Cornell College and the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She is employed as an anesthesiologist at UNMC.

OCONTO - - No doubt many of us have been feasting on leftover turkey, dressing and sweet potatoes for the past week. Thanksgiving is a prime time for cooks everywhere to strut their stuff and show what good cooks they are. By her own admission, Nicole Badgley is not one of them.
“If there was a house without a kitchen, I would want to live there,” proclaimed Nicole, this week’s Cook of the Week. “Fortunately, my husband is the Fire Chief in Oconto and he’s installed a fire alarm right above the stove, in case I need a timer while cooking!”
