Broken Bow Juniors drop two of three

The Broken Bow junior baseball team rebounded from two straight losses with an 18-2 win against Overton June 8 in the Holdrege junior tournament. They opened the tournament with an 11-4 loss to Kearney. On June 6, Broken Bow fell to Cozad 16-2.

Against Overton Broken Bow put the game away in the third inning, scoring 15 runs. Hunter Minnick was the leading RBI man, driving in three as he went 2-3 from the plate with a single and double. Josey Evans, Travis Kleeb, Josh Jacobsen and Noel Chapin each added two singles.

Broken Bow seniors rebound, take care of Cozad

Broken Bow earned a bounce back win over Cozad, 6-2, after falling 7-6 to Gothenburg the night before.

Josh Jacobsen added two RBIs to his total in his 1-2 hitting performance. He also came around to score twice.

Josey Evans, Jack Smallcomb, Preston Sanchez, Garrett Ulmer, Taylor Shea and Tommy McCormick all registered one hit.

Evans and Quackenbush added the other two RBIs.

Sanchez got the start on the mound and allowed the two runs on four hits while striking out five and walking three. He had one hitbatsmen.

The seniors take on Holdrege on the road Monday at 8 p.m.

Broken Bow juniors topped by tough Cozad team 14-7

The Broken Bow junior baseball team faced a tough opponent in Cozad Saturday night and came up short, but the score of 14-7.

Taylor Shea lead the team in RBIs with three as he went 3-3 from the plate. Josey Evans had one RBI as he went 0-5 from the plate. Travis Kleeb had a very productive day for the Indians, scoring twice and going 4-5 from the plate.

Hunter Minnick went 2-4 and Trevor Scott finished at 1-3.

Evans, Tommy McCormick, Shea, Mitch Burnett and Josh Jacobsen all crossed the plate once.

Gothenburg edges Broken Bow seniors

June 1, 2013

Broken Bow fought through windy, chilly conditions and came up just short Friday night against Gothenburg, losing 7-6.

The Indians were able to get runners on first and 2nd in the bottom of the 7th trailing 7-6, but the game ended with Gothenberg nabbing Seth Quackenbush trying to steal third base.

Broken Bow held a 4-2 lead throughout most of the game, but Gothenburg broke the game open in the top of the 6th inning, scoring four runs to go up 7-5. Broken Bow managed to get one around in the bottom of the 7th, but it wasn't enough.

The Broken Bow junior baseball team got back on a winning track Friday night, clearing out Gothenburg by the score of 16-2.

Travis Kleeb and Tommy McCormick combined for seven RBIs. McCormick earned two RBIs with a two run home run in the game.

Josey Evans, Trevor Scott and Scott Davis each had an RBI to go with two from Noel Chapin.

Lexington survives Bow Junior rally, escape with 13-12 win.

The Broken Bow junior baseball team fell behind 9-1 in the first two innings of Thurdsay's game against Lexington.

They also almost pulled off a massive comeback.

The Indians cut the lead all the way down to 13-12 in the bottom of the seventh inning and had a runner on third base when Josh Jacobsen was caught with too big of a lead at first and was picked off.

St. Paul tops Broken Bow 12-6 in senior game

St. Paul picked up the win at home, topping the Broken Bow seniors 12-6 Wednesday night.

Jake McCormick had three singles in the game to go with two RBI's. Hunter Campbell went 2-4 at the plate and scored two runs. Seth Quackenbush recorded an RBI single as part of a 2-4 performance.

McCormick had a good outing on the mound in his three innings of work, striking out one while allowing no runs and no walks. Preston Sanchez relieved McCormick after three innings and gave up three runs one hit, three walks and Broken Bow had three errors.

Broken Bow junior baseball drops third straight, loses to St. Paul 11-9

The Broken Bow juniors dropped their third straight game Wednesday night, dropping a close game to St. Paul 11-9.

Taylor Shea went 2-3 at the plate with two RBI's and scored a run in the loss. Josey Evans was another bright spot for the offense, going 2-2 with an RBI and reaching base three more times on three walks. Hunter Minnick had one RBI, going 1-1 and walking three times. Travis Kleeb had two hits in his five plate appearances.

The St. Paul pitching staff surrendered nine walks while striking out six.

Broken Bow Spirit Softball open season with win

May 22, 2013

The Broken Bow Spirit senior softball team got their season off to a good start, topping Ravenna 10-6 in a game that ended in 6 innings due to time limitations. Broken Bow trailed 6-1 in the 4th inning then was able to piece together some timely hits and were helped out by sloppy Ravenna pitching and fielding.

Hannah Evans picked up the win on the mound and Tressa Ripp provided a does of offense with two base hits.

Ravenna surrendered 15 walks on the game.

The team heads to Lexington for their annual tournament Saturday with games at 8:30 am, 10:00 am and 7:00 pm

Broken Bow juniors, seniors fall at Kearney

The Broken Bow junior and senior baseball team's dropped to 1-2 and 0-2 starts Tuesday night, losing to ?Kearney Five Points and Kearney Little Ceasers.

Travis Kleeb was the lone offensive producer for the Indians, going 1-1 with a single and scored Broken Bow's only run of the game. Josey Evans had a strong performance of the mound, despite the loss. He struck out two while allowing now runs and no walks.
