16u Spirit take down 18u counterparts

In a battle for town softball bragging rights, the Broken Bow 16u team earned an 8-7 victory over their 18u counterparts.

Jasmyn Brooks cranked three-run home run while Mariah Lane finished with a single and a double while driving in two runners as part of the 16u effort. Kerri DeGroff, Ashley Markham and Jordan Linn also finished the game with RBIs.

Markham, Hanna Lane and DeGroff each finished the game with three singles.

Brooks pitched all six innings played while striking out six, walking six and allowing five earned runs.

Hannah Evans got the start on the mound for the 18u team, going 3 1/3 while striking out four, walking one and gave up six earned runs.

Makenna Brunken had a strong performance at the plate, going 2-3 at the plate with two singles and scored a a run for the 18u squad. Kassie Russell finished 1-2 with a single and also scored a run while Morgan Hueftle went 1-3 with a double and crossed the plate once.

Tressa Ripp and Kelsie Myers also scored once while Michaela Weverka crossed the plate twice.
