Accident on Highway 2

June 6, 2014

Broken Bow Emergency Response answered the June 6 call when a car crossed the center line of State Highway 2 approximately five miles east of Broken Bow.

According to the Custer County Sheriff's Office, a 2004 Dodge Intrepid driven by Donald Fries, 96, of Broken Bow, was traveling east on Highway 2 when it crossed the center line and collided with a 2013 Mac Semi driven by Donald Dunkin, 68, of Geneva. The collision occurred just west of Road 444. Mr. Fries and his wife Alma, 89, were transported with non-life threatening injuries to Jennie M. Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow.

Broken Bow emergency Response, the Broken Bow Fire Department (and the jaws of life), the Custer County Sheriff's Office, the Broken Bow Police Department and the Nebraska State patrol assisted on scene as the accident did require the closing down of State Highway 2.
