Amber L. (Maixner) Ransom, 33 of Marengo, Iowa, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011. Memorial services were held at Hus Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Additional Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at Wescott Baptist Church in Comstock, with the Rev. Don Schauda officiating. Burial will be in the Douglas Grove Cemetery near Comstock.
There will be no visitation. All Faiths Funeral Home of Grand Island is
serving the family.
Ms. Ransom was born May 12, 1978, in Grand Island, the daughter of Ray Maixner and Linda (Ayres) Howell. Survivors include her son, Wyatt Ransom of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; mother and step-father, Linda and Errol Howell of Greeley; father and his wife, Ray and Bettie Maixner of Belgrade; sister, Misty Metschke of Ames, Iowa; fiance, Dr. Greg Neyman of Amana, Iowa, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Leroy and Nellie Ayres.
As a young child, Amber lived in Comstock, and later graduated from
high school in Wallace. Amber studied Criminal Justice at Hamilton College in Cedar Rapids. After graduating, she worked as a Correctional Officer at Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Coralville, Iowa. In 2010, she became a Transport Officer with the Iowa County Sheriffs and then US Marshall Service.
She was united in marriage to Scott Ransom of Cedar Rapids in 1999.
Amber loved to spend time on the farm with her horses, had an artistic
nature, loved her pickup, and spending time with her family and friends.
An educational fund is being set up for her son, Wyatt Ransom.
