MERNA -- Sandhills/Thedford went 1-1 in a triangular with Anselmo-Merna and Twin Loup Tuesday night.
They topped the host Coyotes 2-0 (25-10, 25-15). Kelsey Higgins and Chantelle Milleson powered the Knights offensively, recording four and three kills respectively. Madison Taylor and Avery Taylor finished with two each and Jacy Spencer and Taylor Marten had one.
Madison Taylor also had four blocks on the match.
Sarah Miles dug out 12 balls, but she had plenty of help in that department. Taylor Marten finished with six and Shaina Simonson had five while Higgins chipped in four.
Madison Taylor finished the match with two serving aces and Sarah Miles had one.
After beating Anselmo-Merna, Sandhills/Thedford moved on to play Twin Loup, where they were defeated in straight sets (17-25, 18-25).
Madison Taylor lead the way with six kills while Higgins chipped in two and Milleson and Taylor Martin had one each.
Simonson and Jacy Spencer had four assists each to go with the 10 digs by Miles.
For Anselmo-Merna, the team had seven total assists as part of a 61/61 serving performance. They were 28/33 on attacks with seven kills.
Janae Hostick had Kassie Russell had the lions share of the kills, grabbing three each. Hostick also went 5/5 ons serves while recording seven digs.
Katie Kirkpatrick finished 5/5 on serves as well.
In their second game, Twin Loup outpaced the Coyotes, winning in straight sets.
The Coyotes were 24/27 on serves and 43/44 on attacks. Megan Max was successful on all 19 of her setting attempts while Russell recorded three kills.
Katie Kirkpatrick had six digs and two serving aces for the match.
