Ansley celebrates 125th birthday!

ANSLEY - - In honor of its 125-year anniversary, Ansley’s annual Muddy Creek Celebration will be bigger and better than ever this year. Activities are planned for June 8 - 12, with a dance and poker tournament kicking things off Friday. The 60-seat maximum poker tournament begins at 7 p.m., while the Brown Daisy Dance for youth entering 7-12 grade will be from 8-12.
Saturday will include a full day of activities, with sand volleyball all day and a backyard BBQ at the park from noon to 1 p.m. The Muddy Creek vintage, antique, classic car and motorcycle rally runs from 1-6 p.m., with the motorcycle poker run getting underway at 2:30 p.m.
Heading into the evening Saturday, Security State Bank will host a cookout at 5:30, and the Glass Onion Band will perform from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Sunday begins with a community church service at 10:30 a.m. at the Community Center. Sunday afternoon will include turtle races, fishing contest, kids games and paintball, all in the park beginning at 1:30 p.m.
The Ansley Volunteer Fire & Rescue will sponsor a hot dog cookout Sunday afternoon at 4:30.
The fun continues Monday, with a baking contest at 3 p.m. at the Community Center, the Muddy Creek Supper at 5 p.m., and the parade down Main Street at 7 p.m.
The celebration will wrap up Tuesday with free swimming and pool games at the pool from 1-3 p.m., and a box lunch from 6-8:30 p.m.
Monday and Tuesday will also feature a carnival on Main Street and homemade ice cream.
Everyone is invited to come help Ansley celebrate 125 years, as well as the 25th anniversary of the Muddy Creek Celebration.
