Aurora too much for Bow Seniors
AURORA -- The Broken Bow senior baseball team saw its regular season come to an end Tuesday night with a 13-2 loss to Aurora. Broken Bow actually outhit Aurora 9-8, but couldn’t put anything together as they came up with just two runs. Seth Quackenbush and Caleb Dodge recorded the two RBIs for Bow as they went 2-3 and 3-3 respectively with all of the five hits between them being singles. Hunter Campbell had a solid day at the plate, going 2-3 with a single and a doule and scoring two runs. The Indians also got singles from Chad Christensen and Jake McCormick. Aurora jumped out to a three-run lead after the first inning and Broken Bow was able to keep them close until the bottom of the third, when they broke the game open with an eight-run inning. The combination of Aurora’s Cole Ashby, Blake Williams, Eli Bricker and Tyler Dubas combined for four hits and seven RBIs. Broken Bow shuffled four different pitchers around in this three-inning contest. Jack Smallcomb, Preston Sanchez, Hunter Campbell and Caleb Dodge couldn’t solve the puzzle on the mound as they combined to give up six earned runs on eight hits and walked seven while striking out just one. The eight unearned runs from Aurora were the result of five Broken Bow errors- an area that the team has struggled in this season. Jeremy Otto picked up the win on the mound for Aurora, striking out three while walking no batters and giving up just the two earned runs on nine hits.
