Bison auction near Valentine set for Wednesday

October 11, 2012

National Wildlife Refuge Week is being celebrated across the country during the week of October 14-20, 2012. Special events are scheduled at many refuges including Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge east of Valentine, Nebraska. Approximately 48 bison and several lots of skulls and antlers will be sold during a live auction at the refuge corrals on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 beginning at 12:00 noon C.D.T. National Wildlife Refuge Week posters "Drawn To Refuges" will be given away and lunch will be served on site by the German Settlement Ladies Organization.

Visitors and buyers from Nebraska and several other states travel great distances each year to watch this unique auction and purchase quality bison from one of the founding, public-owned herds. Spirited bidding and the wild nature of bison make the sale one of the most interesting and exciting auctions held in Nebraska.
