CALLAWAY - - On Feb. 28, area residents were treated to a Heritage Potluck evening meal in Callaway as part of the ongoing activities for the year marking the community’s 125th anniversary. Guests at the potluck were treated not only to a delicious sampling of some old family favorite recipes, but also to demonstrations complete with the proper attire to take them back to the turn of the century and beyond. One of those providing a piece of history at the event was Joann Pandorf. She wore a Victorian dress and hat that she had made from an old pattern book, and also presented a display that showed how she increased the pattern from a tiny patttern in the book - just as they would have done years ago. Joann is one of the members of Callaway’s Sorosis Club, the group who hosted the potluck dinner. The Sorosis Club was organized in 1909, and celebrated its 100th anniversary last year. |
