Bob attended Yucca Valley grade school most of his kindergarten year. The family moved to Mills Valley where Bob attended country school through the seventh grade. He attended eighth grade and high school in Arnold as his family moved two and a half miles east of Arnold.
After completing school, Bob worked for many farmers in the area. He worked with a large crew putting in REA around Arnold and other communities in this area and also the Ainsworth area in the late 1940s. Other jobs included picking corn by hand and stacking hay on a hay stack. One summer he went wheat harvesting.

In 1963, he and Mona purchased the farm, Sky View Farm, west of Arnold that would be their beloved home. They built a house in 1968. Farming and ranching was Bob’s passion and enjoyed it with the love of his life, Mona.
While grandchildren were young, one day each year was spring calf branding, followed by malts at the cafe. He hosted many Easter get-togethers for family and friends.
