Boy gives up birthday presents for needy
An upcoming birthday became an opportunity for giving for one Broken Bow boy and his friends. Destry Miller recently celebrated his 10th birthday, and as plans were being made for his party his mom made in interesting suggestion to Destry. Knowing he would be getting gifts from his parents, aunts and uncles, his mom suggested Destry donate the gifts he received from his friends to the Children’s Christmas Fund. Destry agreed. Friday night, Dec. 2, Destry and his friends got together at Pleasure Lanes to celebrate his birthday - and at the end of the evening the toys he received were donated back to the community for giving to local children in need. Destry is the son of Brandon and Barb Miller. The Children’s Christmas Fund is off to a great start. Thanks to the generosity of people just like you, and Destry Miller, the Children’s Christmas Fund now sits at $4,131. This includes two - $500 donations, one from each of the Broken Bow Grocery Stores, Grocery Kart and Schmick’s Market. A special thank you goes out this week to the following for making Christmas a little brighter for those in need.$500 -Grocery KartSchmick’s Market$200 -Anonymous$100 -Gary & sandra WrightBroken Bow Elks 1688$50 -Pete & Barbara PomplunOryl FischerJohn & Christine MaessnerPaul & Vicki PetersAnonymousIn Memory of Trevor Haller$40 -Stan & Nancy SedlacekDotty & Mari Roseberry$30 -Roger & Donna WenquistAnonymous$25 -James & Gretchen GallentineRosline BellRobert & Mary WalkerUnited Methodist Keystone ClassHelen SeeversPauline LandrethElizabeth Rains$20 -Independent Order of Odd FellowsPriceless -To the 97 Becton Dickinson employees who selected children from their ‘Giving Tree’ to purchase presents for this year. During the holidays it provides a Christmas dinner, a little extra for the pantry and gifts for the little ones. One-hundred percent of the moneys donated to the Children’s Christmas Fund goes to help those less fortunate, and 100 percent of those funds stay at home. Thanks Everyone!!!
