A single vehicle accident south of Miller Wednesday afternoon has taken the life of a Sargent woman and 11-year-old girl.
Amanda Wilder, 28, her two daughter - Destani, 11, and Montannah, 8 - along with Amanda's friend, 24-year-old Rebecca Veeder, all of Sargent, were traveling in a 1989 GMC pickup around 12:30 Wednesday, when Amanda lost control of the vehicle 2 1/2 miles south of Miller on Highway 183. Veeder and Destani Wilder were killed in the crash. Amanda and Montannah were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
A news release from the Buffalo County Attorney's office states that Amanda lost control of the pickup, traveled across the highway where it entered the east ditch and rolled. The release does not say whether any of the passengers were wearing their seat belts or were ejected from the vehicle. The crash remains under investigation.
According to Etta Wilder, grandmother of the the two girls, Amanda remains in Good Samaritan Hospital with a broken pelvis, fractured ribs, punctured lungs, many scrapes and bruises and an injured foot. Montannah received lacerations on her side and a bruised spleen.
