Broken Bow pulls out a win against Gibbon, advances to second round of playoffs

Broken Bow pulled out a dramatic win over Gibbon Thursday night to advance to the next round of the class C1 state playoffs. Broken Bow trailed 10-6 with just under five minutes left in the game and were stopped on a 4th down. The very next play, Gibbon snapped the ball over the head of the quarterback into the back of the end zone, resulting in a safety, cutting the score to 10-8. On the next possession, Marcus Miller hooked up with Hunter Campbell for the second time on the night, giving Broken Bow a 16-10 lead.

Campbell came up big on defense on the next series as well, getting an interception to give the Indians the ball back. Following a missed field goal, Gibbon got one more chance to tie or win the game and were able to move the ball inside the 20-yard line of Broken Bow before throwing an incomplete pass with six seconds left, sealing the victory for the Indians.

Broken Bow will take on Kearney Catholic in the second round of the playoffs Wednesday Oct. 31. Kearney Catholic is 14-3 on the year.
