Broken Bow wins area championship; open against Seward in state playoffs

July 28, 2011

GOTHENBURG--Broken Bow beat McCook and won the B-6 Area Championship in Gothenburg. Broken Bow needed to beat McCook twice and they did just that. Broken Bow won the first game 12-2 after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule paving the way for a winner-take-all championship game. In the second game Broken Bow continued where they left off and won 11-0 after five innings again due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Broken Bow will be making their first appearance in eight years at the American Legion Class B State Playoffs. Broken Bow is taking on Seward, the B-4 Area representative. Game time is set for Saturday at 2 p.m. at Kernel Field in Central City. Check www.custercountychief.com for updates over the weekend and in next weeks issue of the Custer County Chief a full recap and stats will be available.
