Carl Eacker, 80

Carl D. Eacker, 80, of Penrose, Colo., died Monday, March 5, 2012. He was born Sept. 6, 1931, in Merna.
Carl served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He worked at the Climax Molybdenum mine in Leadville, Colo., for 17 years. He was always fixing cars and loved doing it throughout his life.
He taught the mechanic trade to his children, their children, and his great-grandchildren.
Carl enjoyed hunting, camping and most of all, spending time with his large family.
He is survived by his wife, Helga; six children, Sonja (Dana) Stedman, Dale Eacker, Rose Eacker, Linda (Allen) Goerdt, Betty (Murl) Ryberg and Cindy (Marc) Heckenberg; 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Eddie Eacker, and granddaughter, Tasheena McEwen.
Memorial services were March 10 at the Holt Chapel of the Garden in Canon City, Colo. Donations are to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Arrangements were handled through Holt Family Funeral Home in Canon City, Colo.
