Cora L. Osterhoudt, age 80 of Kearney, died Friday, April 1, 2011 in Kearney. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Kearney with Pastor Eric Lesher officiating. Graveside services and burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon at the Maywood Cemetery in Maywood.

Cora was born June 5, 1930, in Maywood, to Glen and Bernice (Doudna) Shults. She graduated from Curtis High School with the class of 1948. She married Howard A. Osterhoudt Dec. 25, 1947, in Curtis. Cora attended college at Dakota Wesleyan and Bishop Clarkson where she earned her bachelor’s of nursing degree in 1995.
She worked as an RN at Richard Young Hospital in Kearney and later at St. John’s Good Samaritan Center in Kearney. Cora was a member of First Lutheran Church and the VFW Auxiliary. She also was involved with the Ruth Circle at church where she was a lesson leader.
Cora will always be remembered for her beautiful hand crafts, including crocheting, knitting and cross stitch. She especially enjoyed making blankets and donating them to the hospital.
Cora is survived by two sons, Marlin and Linda Osterhoudt, of Kenyon, Minn., and Dwight and Joan Osterhoudt, of Callaway; two daughters, Cheryl and Jim Long of Denver, Colo., and Leslie and Perry Wolsleben, of Fremont; brother, Warren and Evelyn Shults, of North Platte; sister, Elaine and Gene Knaus, of Kearney; nine grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren
Cora was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard; and brother, Glenn Dean Shults.
