Custer County Chapter hosts annual banquet

The Custer County Chapter of Pheasants Forever (PF) will host its 17th annual banquet on opening pheasant hunting weekend Oct. 26 at Huckleberry’s Hideout in Broken Bow. The public is invited, as you do not need be a PF member to attend this event. Doors open at 5:30 pm with a BBQ brisket buffet dinner starting at 7 p.m. and a fundraising auction to follow. Along with a live and silent auction, the chapter will be conducting raffles for adults and kids of all ages on the night of the banquet. The cost to attend the banquet is only $15 per person and kids will receive a FREE 1 year ring-neck membership with their ticket! Tickets can be purchased from local chapter members prior to the event or at the door the night of the banquet. All proceeds from the event go to the Custer County Chapter's wildlife habitat and youth outdoor education efforts.
Since forming in 1995, the Custer County Chapter of PF has completed 1,195 wildlife habitat projects benefitting wildlife on 15,152 acres and contributing $257,400 to habitat development in the county. This spring the chapter was awarded for its contributions of over $250,000 at the annual State Habitat Meeting held in Kearney. This year the chapter helped landowners in Custer County plant over 1,200 acres of new high diversity grass & forb mixtures and over 33,000 native shrubs for wildlife through various conservation programs and efforts. The chapter also provides free winter cover food plot seed to any landowners interested in providing great roosting and escape cover for upland birds on their property. Along with the chapter’s habitat programs, the Custer County Chapter has conducted 10 Youth Mentor Hunts for 138 local boys and girls and invested over $20,860 into the program since 2002.
