Dean Horn, 82

M. Dean Horn, 82, of rural Broken Bow, died March 6 at his home after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. Funeral services will be held at Burr Oak Church Monday, March 11, at 10 a.m. with Pastor David Harder officiating. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery with Govier Brothers Mortuary in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be given to the Burr Oak Church Vacation Bible School.
Dean was born July 19, 1930, to Melvin and Zora (Christy) Horn in Grand Island. He grew up on a ranch south of Broken Bow where he lived his entire life. He attended grade school at Mt.Olive rural school and high school in Broken Bow.
He married Milrae Thomas Feb. 4, 1951. Four children were born to this union: Steve, Nancy, Jeff, and Kristi. Dean was active in many local organizations.The most important decision in his life was when he accepted Christ as his personal savior at a missionary conference when he was 27- years-old.
Dean is survived by his wife, Milrae; his children, Steve and wife Jennifer of Broken Bow, Nancy Jochum and husband Mike of Beatrice, Jeff and wife Janice of Lincoln, and Kristi of Broken Bow; his grandchildren, Travis Horn of Broken Bow and special friend Danielle Yuri of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Darci (Horn) Shea and husband Tyler of Broken Bow, Jared Jochum and wife Julie of Palmyra, Benjamin Jochum and wife Michelle of Lincoln, Nathaniel Jochum and wife Melissa of Lincoln, Micaela (Jochum) Vrtiska and husband Brian of Holmesville, Matthew Horn of Kansas City and fiancé Julie Blum of Lincoln, Rebekah Horn of Lincoln; his great-grandchildren, Jocelyn and Keelyn Shea, Hunter Vrtiska, and Micah Jochum; one brother Gale Horn of Puerto Rico, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin & Zora Horn.
