Doris Fay Stauffer Loeffelholz Reed was born Feb. 4, 1951, in Kearney. She was the youngest child of Aaron and Dollie (Scott) Stauffer.
She died Oct. 10, 2010, in Denver, Colo., at the Trauma Center after an elevator wheelchair lift accident in North Platte. She had just moved from Off Broadway in Broken Bow to an assisted living center just 11 days ago.
Doris had two brothers, Gerald and LeRoy; and two sisters, Carol and Patricia.
She received her education at schools in Kearney. She spent most of her life in and around Kearney, except for the years in Lead, S.D. She had many different jobs, but she was most proud of her job as a train engineer in the gold mines at Lead.
Doris was married March 1, 1971, to Herman Loeffelholz at the Catholic Church in Kearney. To this union three children were born, Michael Eugene, Mary Jo and Jennifer Lynn.
Doris enjoyed going to bingo, making bead bracelets, playing peg boards and collecting stuffed toys, angels, helping out the Salvation Army and different Methodist Churches.
She is survived by her brother, LeRoy and wife Carol of Pensacola, Fla.; sister, Patricia Salvage and husband Richard of Mason City; sister-in-law, Alberta Stauffer of Broken Bow; two special nieces, Lori Stauffer of Broken Bow and Linda Welch of Odessa; and many other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman; infant daughter, Carol; and brother, Gerald.
There was a Memorial Service Oct. 19. Memorials may be made to the Faith United Methodist Church in Kearney.
