Emanuel Hosek, 85

Emanuel (Toby) Hosek, 85, of Sargent, died Aug. 1, 2011, at the University of Colorado Medical Center in Denver, Colo. A graveside service will be set at a later date.
Toby was born April 19, 1926, in Sargent, to Joseph and Agnes (Hejsek) Hosek. He graduated from Sargent High school and then served in the U.S. Air Force.
After his discharge he worked as a bookkeeper in South Dakota for 33 years, returning to Sargent upon retiring. Toby enjoyed flying planes as a hobby as well as building model airplanes. He also enjoyed playing the accordion all his life.
Toby is survived by nephews Mike McGahan of Grand Island and Tim McGahan of Omaha; nieces, Patty Mills of Crystal Lake, Ill, Cindy Schneider of Grand Island, Liz Bartunek of Hastings, and Fran Petersen of Omaha. He is also survived by many great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Joseph, Emil, Anne, and Mary Hosek, Agnes Hollingsworth, and Emma McGahan. Memorials are suggested to Assumption Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Sargent.
