Evelyn Patterson, 88

Evelyn Patterson, 88, longtime Ogallala resident, died Friday, April 20, 2012, in Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant.
Evelyn F. Patterson was born March 12, 1924 in Ansley, the daughter of Thomas and Florence (Armour) Price. She attended school in Ansley until her junior year when she and her family moved to Ogallala. She graduated in 1942.
November 7, 1942, Evelyn married Douglas Patterson at Grand Island. The couple lived in Ansley and Lexington before they moved to Ogallala in 1956.
Ten years later they moved to Broken Bow and resided two years. They returned to Ogallala where they have resided since. She was employed as a clerk for 20 years at Sullivan-Bush Department Store and Variety Center. Evelyn retired in 1984.
Evelyn was a member of the Berean Church where she taught the two and three year olds Sunday School for many years. She was involved in Women's Missionary Fellow-ship and Bible Study. In later years she became a member of the First Baptist Church.
Evelyn enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her family. Her hobbies included embroidering, reading, growing houseplants, and being with her family.
Preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Lucille Amsberry; brother, Leo Price, and grandson, Kevin Jacobsen.
Survivors include her husband, Douglas Patterson of Grant; eight children, Larrie (Patricia) of Lincoln, Karen (Lowell) Jacobsen of Spearfish, SD, Lucretia Johnson and special friend Hank Pankonin of Madrid, Dianne (John) Annable of Ogallala, Nancy (Joel) Miller of Normal, Ill., Thomas R. Patterson of Round Rock, Texas, Trudy Patterson and special friend Kathleen Katra of Castle Rock, Colo., and Laurie (Michael) Geier of North Platte; 27 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Donna Price of Wheatridge, Colo.; brother-in-law, Dick (Charlotte) Amsberry of Ansley, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Tuesday, April 24, at Draucker Funeral Home in Ogallala. The Rev. Curtis Tschetter of the First Baptist Church and the Rev. Phil Ewert officiated.
Interment was in Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell . Memorials have been established to the Nebraska Childrens Home of Omaha and Maranatha Bible Camp of Maxwell, or to the donor's choice.
