Fay L. Drake, 78, of Kearney died Monday, July 29, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at the Litchfield Cemetery in Litchfield, with the Rev. Gary Main officiating. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Online condolences may be submitted to www.osrfh.com. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the O'Brien Straat-mann Redinger Funeral Home of Kearney.
Fay was born Oct. 31, 1934, to Richard and Katheryn (Smith) Ward in Berwyn. January 18, 1953, she married James Drake in Berwyn. They lived in Berwyn, Broken Bow and Kearney. She worked at Carothers Hospital; J.C. Penney; Broken Bow State Bank and the lunch rooms at the Jr., Senior High and Kenwood Elementary in Kearney.
She was a member of the First Methodist Church at Berwyn and Kearney; a member of the Kearney Methodist Woman's Church Circle; Berwyn Rebekka Lodge where she was a past Noble Grand in 1956.
She is survived by her son, James and wife Mindy of Kearney; daughter, Jolene Drake of Kearney; brother, Glen D. and wife Jessie Ward of Alliance; sisters, Dixie L. Jensen of Holdrege, Irene Neumann of McCook; sister-in-law, Elda Ward of Broken Bow; grandchildren, Gypsy, Heather, Jacoby, Dylan; great-grandchildren, Myka, Jaxson, Jaela and Caidynn; several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband; both parents; brother, James Ward; brothers-in- law, Fred Neumann and Dick Jensen.
