Fenske wins gold, Claflin settles for silver

Sargent/Burwell's Jed Fenske has his arms raised after winning the Class C State Championship at 145 pounds. Fenske defeated Tekamah-Herman's Alex Metzler 5-0 for the gold medal.

Sargent/Burwell's Jed Fenske was one of 15 area wrestlers to win a medal at the State Wrestling Tournament. Fenske's medal earned him the title of 'State Champion' as he won the Class C 145 pound class.
Sumner-Eddyville-Miller's Traven Claflin also wrestled for a state championship at 160 pounds in Class D. Claflin settled for the silver medal as runner up after losing a 10-2 major decision to State Champion Bryce Dibbern from Amherst.
Other medal winners were: Class B - Broken Bow's Matt Denson, 135 - 6th Place; Class C - Sargent/Burwell's Justin Miller, 112 - 6th Place and Tanner Balfour, 152 - 6th Place; Class D - Anselmo-Merna'a Colten Fales, 215 - 5th Place; Ansley/Arcadia's Stuart Hircock, 160 - 5th Place and Ryan Hircock, 189 - 3rd Place; Mullen's Jared Simonson, 130 - 3rd Place, Jarod Spurlin, 145 - 6th Place, Tyrell Wilson, 171 - 6th Place and Nick Licking, 189 - 4th Place; Sandhills/Thedford's Nate McFadden, 135 - 5th Place; South Loup's Logan Glendy, 145 - 4th Place and SEM's John Frerichs, 145 - 3rd Place.
