Five teams to contend for district titles in final week

October 19, 2010

The South Loup Bobcats are one of five teams playing for a district championship this week. South Loup will host Sandhills/Thedford with the winner becoming the D1-10 champion.

Three of five area teams will become district championships receiving automatic bids into the state playoffs this week. The Broken Bow Indians clinched the Class C1-9 district championship defeating Valentine last Friday 33-21. The Indians close their season at Cozad Thursday night. Even if the Indians lose to the Haymakers, the Indians claim the title by holding the head-to-head tie-breaker over Gothenburg.
Arnold will be the site for the Class D1-10 district title game Friday night when the South Loup Bobcats defend their undefeated season against the Sandhills/Thedford Knights. The Knights already have one district loss, but with an upset over the Bobcats, the Knights could steal the district championship from the grasp of the Bobcats.
The biggest match-up of the week will feature the 7-0 Sargent Bulldogs at the 7-0 Mullen Broncos with the winner claiming the Class D2-8 district championship. This pivotal match-up puts two of the most potent area offenses on the field to clash in what could be a high scoring affair.
