George Fleishman, 94
George Conrad Fleishman, 94, beloved husband and father, passed away June 28, 2012, at the Vintage Care home in Napa. George was born in Merna, Nov. 18, 1917, to George N. Fleishman and Anna (Bader) Fleishman. He graduated from Merna High School and then attended Kearney Teachers College in Kearney.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in March 1942. In May 1942, he graduated from Colorado State College with a bachelor of science degree in forestry. He went to basic training as a navigation cadet in Santa Ana, Calif. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1943.
George married the former Vera Margaret Cronan in June 1943, and they have remained married for the past 69 years.
George made the Air Force a 21-year career as a navigator with assignments all over the United States and a few years overseas. After being discharged, he moved to Napa and worked for Bert Williams Auto Parts. He was an active member of St. Johnâ€™s Catholic Church for many years and he volunteered many hours in the parish Adoration Chapel. He was also a longtime member of Alemany Council 982 of the Knights of Columbus in Napa.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Napa; children, Mary Eddards of Arizona, George M. Fleishman of Napa, Kathleen Skaggs of Wyoming and Patricia Fleishman of Napa; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Monica Fleishman and Theresa Nachtman; and his first grandson, Clinton Paul Skaggs.
The funeral Mass was July 3 at St. Johnâ€™s Catholic Church. Claffey and Rota Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
