Gerald "Jerry" Parr, 87

Gerald "Jerry" L. Parr, 87, died Aug. 20, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Center in Beatrice after a short illness.
Jerry was born October 9, 1923, in Merna, the son of Merle and Della (Cox) Parr. He graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1941.
Survivors are a son, Gerald Dennis and wife, Marlys of Lubbock, Texas; a daughter, Linda Young and her husband, Jerry of New Port Richey, Fla.; a son, Brad and his wife, Kelly of Hot Sulphur Springs, Colo.; his sister, Gloria McCarthy, and her husband, Verne of Brookings, S.D.; and three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and a grandson.
Memorial services were Wednesday, Aug. 24, at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice with Pastor Dr. Jimmy Shelbourn officiating. Grave-side services will be at the Merna Cemetery in Merna, Thursday, Aug. 25, at 1 p.m. Memorials may be made to Beatrice Community Hospital Hospice, the First Presbyterian Church of Beatrice, or the Beatrice Humane Society with the mortuary in charge.
