Glen C. Birney, age 52, died Sunday March 23, 2014 at his home near Broken Bow. Funeral services will be Thursday March 27, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow, with the Rev. Todd Karges officiating. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary, with the family greeting friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the family, to be designated at a later date.
Glen C. Birney was born Oct. 2,1961, to Clemet and Arlene Birney in Denison, Iowa. He attended grade school and junior high in Denison before moving to Broken Bow with his family in 1976. He attended Broken Bow High School where he developed his love of carpentry and woodworking. After graduation in 1980, he worked in construction and worked at the local lumberyard.
He married Peg Bleick July 7, 1985, and welcomed two children with that union: Mickie and Jeff. His family was the world to him.
Glen was preceded in death by one grandson, Taten; one niece, Heather and his father, Clemet.
Survivors include his wife, Peg; his children, Mickie(Tony)Haney, Jeff McDermott; grandchildren, Krystanna, Andrea, Tanner, Taylor, Peyton; mother, Arlene Birney; brother, Robert(Susan)Birney; sisters, Sharon Hansen, Bonnie(Kevin)Wright; sister-in-law, Donna(George)Land, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many friends.
