Helen Havel, 92, of Milligan passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014, at her home.
Helen was born Oct, 16, 1921, to Jaroslav and Anezka Hendrych near Milligan, the last of four children.
Helen graduated from Milligan High School in 1938.
She married Donald R. Havel in 1945, who preceded her in death, April 27, 2000.
She lived her entire life in the Milligan and Exeter area.
Helen was a charter member of the Friend Hospital Auxiliary and 8/40 Bleu Valle Salon #766. She held Unit, County and District 11 offices in the American Legion Auxiliary (Units 218 and 240) of which she was a member for 68 years and a member of the W.B.L.A. (Western Fraternal Life Association) for over 75 years.
She was received into full membership of The Methodist Church Dec. 20, 1953, in Milligan. While living in Exeter she was active in the United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, and First Thursday Club.
After retirement she helped deliver meals for â€śMeals on Wheelsâ€ť and was a member of the Milligan Senior Citizens, which she thoroughly enjoyed.
She is survived by daughter, Norene Fitzgerald Kidder and husband Bill, Sargent; sisters- in -law, Sister M. Frances Ann of Grand Island and Virgie Smith of Lincoln; and many other relatives, friends, and neighbors.
Private family inurnment will be at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, later this summer.
Memorials are directed to the family for later designation.
