John J. Faherty, 80

John J. Faherty, 80, of Arnold departed from this life Sept. 11, 2011. He was born Aug. 4, 1931, in Arnold, to Anna Catherine (Mackley) Faherty and John William Faherty.
He graduated from Arnold High School, Creighton University and Kearney Teachers College with a masters degree in English. He taught English in several schools.
John was a veteran of the Korean War. He had been a bookkeeper for many years at Hagler Trucking, after which he retired to his farm south of Arnold.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his sister, Dolores.
Survivors include one niece and six nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Mass of the Christian burial will be Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Arnold at 10 a.m. Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic in Arnold Sept. 14, 2011, with the Father Anthony Thekkekara officiating. Burial will be at the Arnold Cemetery.
Memorials may go to the St. Agnes Catholic Church or the Arnold School Foundation. Arnold Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
