John Lee, 69

John Richmond Lee was born Oct. 27, 1944, in Valentine, to Marion and Margaret Richmond Lee. He passed away Aug. 17, 2013, at Bryan LGH Hospital in Lincoln.
John attended grade school at Brownlee and later graduated from Valentine High School. September 26, 1964, John married Kay Anderson in Hastings. To this union three children were born.
John was a lifelong rancher in Cherry County; he loved the outdoors, and was an avid artifact hunter and a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
John was a board member of the Thedford Rural Fire Department for many years and was also a board member of the Cowboy Hall of Fame.
John was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Harry “Bozo” Simianer.
He is survived by his wife, Kay of Brownlee; son, John Mike (Darci) of Brownlee; daughter, Christy (Randall) Jobman of Worden, Mont.; son, Thomas (Lindsey) of Balentine, Mont. Also surviving are grandchildren, Tyler and Justin Lee of Brownlee, Michael and Renae Jobman of Worden, Mont., and Vance and Claire Lee of Balentine, Mont.; brother, Dick (Sue) of Springville, Calif., and sisters, Annie Simianer of Gering, and Peg (Chuck) Waller of San Mateo, Calif.
Funeral service for John Lee was Thursday, Aug 22 at the Presbyterian Church in Valentine. AB Cox officiated at the 1 p.m. service. A private family burial was held at Mount Hope Cemetery in Wood Lake. Memorials may be made to the Thedford Area Community Found-ation scholarship fund, The Thedford Rural Fire District or the Wood Lake Cemetery.
Sandoz Chapel of the Pines was entrusted with service arrangements.
