Lady Indians defeat Ainsworth, host Cozad Thursday

The Broken Bow Lady Indians defeated Ainsworth 52-38 in the first round of the Southwest Conference Tournament last night. The Lady Indians fell behind early and trailed throughout most of the first half.
After trailing at halftime, the Lady Indians increased their intensity on defense. The Lady Indians' full court pressure created a number of Ainsworth turnovers resulting in quick points to take the lead early in the third quarter.
The Lady Indians took a double-digit lead after catching fire from the field hitting big 3-pointers and scoring off transition baskets. Ainsworth was able to score late in the game, but the Lady Indians were able to answer with baskets of their own including key free throws late in the game.
With the win, the Lady Indians will host the SWC semi-final game Thursday night against Cozad who was a 36-31 winner over No. 2 seed Valentine last night. Gothenburg also advanced to the semi-finals by defeating Ogallala 49-43 last night and will travel to Minden Thursday night to take on the top seed Lady Whippets.
