Lady Indians, Huskies advance to subdistrict semifinals

COZAD -- The Broken Bow Lady Indians scored back-to-back baskets within nine seconds to break open a 32-32 tie game with less than two minutes remaining in the game. The Lady Indians held on to win 38-33 and advance to the Class C1-11 subdistrict semifinals against top seed, Hershey tonight at 6 p.m. in Lexington. The second game in the C1-11 subdistrict will pair Southern Valley against Cozad.
The Arcadia Lady Huskies advanced to the Class D2-8 subdistrict semifinals with a 29-25 win over the Loup County Lady Wildcats. The Lady Huskies will now play top seed Ansley tonight in Broken Bow at 6 p.m. Loup County's season ends with a 4-15 record. The second game of the D2-8 subdistrict pits the Sargent Lady Bulldogs against North Loup-Scotia.
In other subdistrict action last night, the season ended for two more area teams. The South Loup Lady Bobcats lost to Burwell 43-19 in the Class C2-10 subdistrict while the Litchfield Lady Trojans lost to Pleasanton 40-32 in the Class D2-7 subdistrict.
Eight area girls teams will be in action tonight vying for a chance to play in the subdistrict finals Thursday night. Match-ups and game times are listed on the sports ticker above.
