Martha Alspaugh, 97

Martha Anna (Jorn) Alspaugh was born to John and Elizabeth Jorn July 16, 1915, in Comstock, and went to be with her Lord Oct. 17, 2012, in Springfield, Mo.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jacob (Joe) Alspaugh; two brothers; three sisters, as well as many cherished friends and extended family.
She is survived by two sons, David (wife Sandy), St Louis, Mo., and John (wife Carol Ann), Columbia, Mo.; two daughters, Ruth (husband Gene Lund), Springfield, Mo., and Mary Ann (husband Harry Yates), Lone Jack, Mo.; seven grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Born and raised in Nebraska, she moved to Louisburg, Mo. in 1941, and to Springfield in 1990. She farmed with her husband for many years then worked at Town and County Casual Apparels as a tailor, and for the Buffalo Libraries for several years.
Martha enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She donated many children’s quilts to Springfield Crisis Center, Newborns in Need, and the Council of Churches.
Martha attended the Louisburg Christian Church for many years and was an active leader in the Louisburg 4-H Club while here children were young. She leaves a legacy of love and service to God, charities and family.
Funeral services were Oct. 20, 2012, at Montgomery Viets Chapel. Burial was in Memorial Gardens. In honor of Martha’s life, in lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to a charity of your choice.
