Maxine Popp, 87
Maxine Popp, age 87 of Broken Bow, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Funeral services were Friday, July 13, at the Burr Oak Church south of Broken Bow with the Rev. David Harder officiating. Burial was in the Box Elder Cemetery near Cumro with Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow in charge of arrangements.
Louise "Maxine" Popp was the only child of Marvin and Grace (Freeborn) Trew. She was born June 19, 1925, at home near Cumro. She was called to her heavenly home July 10, 2012.
Maxine went to grade school at the Cat Creek country school. She graduated from Ansley High School in 1943. After graduation she went to Lincoln and worked for Western Electric for almost three years.
During her junior year in high school she starting going with the neighbor boy, Phillip Popp. He went into the service during World War II. They wrote each other from Dec. 1, 1941, until his discharge Aug. 14, 1945. They were married Easter Sunday, April 21, 1946, in a double ceremony with Phillip's twin brother, George Popp and Doris Palmer.
After they were married they lived on the old Trew place near Cumro for nearly 50 years. In 1995, they moved two miles west to the George Trew place where she resided until January 2012. Since February she had lived at Off Broadway Assisted Living Apartments.
They were blessed with two children; Lynette and Beryl. Lynette married Ralph Mollard. Beryl married Tracy Rieckman of Alvo. She had five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a lifetime homemaker whom loved and served the Lord.
Rejoicing in her life are daughter, Lynette and Ralph Mollard of Amherst and their children Ryan of Cumro, Riley of Amherst, and Rick and Hannah Mollard of Kearney with their children Kinley and Ella; and son, Beryl and Tracy Popp of Broken Bow and their children Charmayne and Jordan; one sister-in-law, Katherine Harrison of Stockton, Ill., and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her husband Phillip; her parents, Marvin and Grace Trew; and brother & sisters-in-law Margaret Popp, George and Doris Popp, Warren Harrison, Bob and Evelyn Rausch, Conrad Popp, and Euleta Popp.
Memorials are suggested to the Burr Oak Church or Box Elder Cemetery.
